The narrative is set in modern-day London and takes place in a world where "Shadows" are formed from human fear and worry. A young girl arrives in another country to study, only to be caught up in a peculiar situation when she starts university. The hapless girl goes into "Café Forbidden," a mystery café that only opens at midnight, in a city with no acquaintances. She meets a slew of attractive guys working at the café, where guardians who preserve the line between humans and darkness gather.
